sigh…

I’ve just finished an other shift and I’m starting to feel like I am never away from the shop. I only work 39hrs a week but I’m always either there early or stay back to talk or finish what I’m doing. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job but I could do with a break (again, I took a week off in January). I suppose it’s a good thing that I have a weeks worth of holidays to take before the end of March then, huh?

My wages seem to be so little this month for all the work that I’ve done though. I keep forgetting that I put by £100 per month into a company savings account automatically and I can’t touch it until June/July. I love this scheme because there’s no way in hell that I would put money aside off my own back. It means I should be able to buy a little second hand car in the summer when I pass my driving test.

I’m applying to do a Trainee Manager’s Course with the company - out of 50 stores from anything from 7 to 30odd staff (at a guess) they only pick 4 candidates a year but I’m praying that I am one of them this year, I would love to do it and 3 of the 4 who did it last year are now managers of their own shops. That, sadly enough, is my absolute dream - a shop of my own to run (even if I don’t actually ‘own’ it). I know I probably won’t get to do it this year because I’ve only been a supervisor a few months but here’s hoping!

Anyway, to bed I must go - even though I’m off tomorrow I’ll still end up waking at 6am.

Year Zero

I am totally out of the loop. Why did I not know that ИIN were releasing a new album in April? Year Zero sounds absolutely fantastic of what I’ve heard via their myspace page. When I first heard ‘Survivalism’ I wasn’t impressed but on the third listen I’m really diggin’ it. It’s a new, updated sound for Trent but it’s still Nine Inch Nails through and through. In fact, it reminds me so much of a previous ИIN song, but I can’t pinpoint which one it is.

The second track I’ve heard - ‘My Violent Heart‘ literally has me *squeeing* out loud. Seriously, that song is pure sex to my ears. The whispery mutterings of Trent and the industrial orgasm of chorus make me v. happy.

Now I only have to wait til April to get the album. Gah.

Updates

So, I’ve been a bit busy between work and designing. Britney Spears Shaved Head God I forgot how much I adore coding. I’ve added a few things here and there. most noticeably the Get Reviewed section since I have such an obsession with reviewing websites.

I also realised that IE hates my themes. Uh, dude how did that happen? I’m gonna sort it all out over the course of the next few hours,as well as reply to all the comments made here.

Oh, and am I the only one diggin’ Britney’s shaved head?? I think it looks sort of cool. Okay it was a cry for help (apparently) but she has proved time and time again that she doesn’t care what people say or think about her and to be honest it looks better than that scraggly trailer trash extension thing she had going on!

Wooh, new job

I got a web design job last night and I’m so excited. There’s a guy who works in the Indian take-away next door to my work who is starting up a new business and my mum told him that I was a web designer and if he needed a website then I’d do it for him. So, of course, he needs a website. I’m working on it just now and I’d forgotten how much I love designing for other people. I was awake half the night last night when I got in from work just coding away :)
The other good news is that the guy who owns the takeaway (he’s a close family friend) overheard us talking and now he wants a website too. Yay! Two customers and I haven’t even set up my design website yet. I’m still wondering about what to call my business. I also have to find the DVD which holds all of the screencaps of my previous work to add to the portfolio of said site.

Ok, off to code some more!

[edit] Should I register with Dreamhost or do you guys know any good hosts that are low-cost but offer loads of goodies and have great uptime that I could go with?

Wow, what a few days I’ve had. I had this weekend off so it was spent with the boyfriend in his bed for most of the weekend watching Shameless, Skins and CSI. It was really strange because I didn’t kiss him the entire weekend due to him having a cold sore and me being too vain to risk kissing him and getting one myself!

On Friday I left work early because I felt rough as anything. My head was pounding and I kept getting rather dizzy so I called my assistant manager and got him to come in a cover the four hours until the manageress came in for her shift that night. I was surprised that he came in, he usually says no but I’m so glad that he did because I passed out in my boyfriends later on that afternoon from sheer exhaustion.

I ended up spending quite a lot of money over the course of the weekend even though we didn’t go out at night! I bought a gorgeous gray and black striped hooded jumper, a cute little fitted top, underwear with stars all over it and 3 pairs of girl boxer shorts out of Primark as well as a tshirt for the boy to cheer him up with ‘Sci-Fi High - Roswell’ on the front of it. It’s a lovely tshirt and only cost me £6! Also bought 4 XBox games and £15 of magazines to make him smile. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty much his Valentines’ day present early just because he was feeling so blah over the weekend. Aren’t I a good girlfriend?

Last night was spent listening to Elyse’ radio broadcast on K-IRB and chatting the night away in the chatroom which was awesome fun. She was trying to find bands I hadn’t heard of before and could only manage to come up with a handful including the Wild Colonials who I really liked the sound of :)
Oh, and I dyed my hair midnight blue - you can see it in the photographs page. What do you think?
