Hair today, gone tomorrow.

On Thursday I decided to go and get a much needed hair cut and dye. I had roots that were about an inch long and my hair hadn’t been cut for about 6 months. Yukky looking, in other words. I’d asked the girls in work what salons were good around work as I wouldn’t have time to get back home to go to my usual salon since I finished at 5pm. They recommended one that was just five minutes away from the shop so I called them up and found out how much it would be for a cut, colour and highlights. Turns out it was a pretty damn good price so I made an appointment for later that evening.

When I arrived at the salon I was a little early so sat reading a magazine until the girl who was to do my hair came over and talked me through the colour that I wanted and the cut. I’d decided on the length being the same as Katie Holmes and the colour a dark brown with some bright blonde highlights around the front. Pretty basic bob with chunky layers. Simple, right? oh how wrong could I be?.

Just for a little clarification, here is my hair before the butchering hairdressing took place. My hair before A little (lot) messy and in desperate need of a good dye-job to cover the horrendously faded red and black. Just please ignore how unhappy and un-made up I look in these pictures!!

Anyway, the girl gets to work doing my colouring first, deep chocolate brown all over and then after about an hour or so that was washed out and she put my highlights through too and stuck me under the dryer to fry for a little while. I should have realised that something was going wrong when I wasn’t offered as much as a glass of water. Still, after re-reading the same magazine over again it was time to get the highlights washed out. As the (who I assumed to be) the junior washed the colouring out my hair she mentioned something like “we’ll move over to other seat so that I can see better while I’m cutting”. Uhh, I thought the girl who dyed my hair would be cutting it? read more »
