EX-TER-MI-NATE!

Since I’ve not got any skills whatsoever in carving pumpkins, I thought I’d just post about the best ones that I’ve found on various blogs that I visit
The WordPress one wins by far, though.

My new hoodie, how cute is it? Seriously lovin’ it.

How did it get like this…

Messy Room, originally uploaded by Melissa Gray.

This is a photo I took of my room on the 22nd April. It’s now the 3rd June and even though I tidied it all back then, it’s in an even worse state now. So my task for this afternoon is to completly gut it.

I’m going to rearrange it, throw out everything that I don’t need anymore (like 8 year old nail varnish, anyone?) and sell anything that’s still in good nick and people will find useful, like my old Dell Inspiron for spares & repairs only mind because it’s wrecked.

I can also see all my books being sold, they’re threatening to take over my room at the moment, as well as clothes. I have so many but can never find anything to wear. I’ve been to Oxfam 4 times so far this year and yet I still keep finding more clothes lying around…not to mention that bags and bags of my stuff that’s at the boyfriends house.

Right, enough blogging - I’m going to tidy. Anything to take my mind off the fact I’m not smoking and have a horrid pain in my lungs :/

Slutty Starbucks?

US coffee chain Starbucks has come under fire for a new logo that critics say is offensive and overly graphic.

The Resistance, a US-based Christian group, has called for a national boycott of the coffee-selling giant.

It says the chain’s new logo has a naked woman on it with her legs “spread like a prostitute… The company might as well call themselves Slutbucks”.

Starbucks says the image - based on a 16th century Norse design of a mermaid with two-tails - is not inappropriate.

Rather, the image is a more conservative version of the original Starbucks design, which hung above the chain’s first store when it opened in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1971.

‘Rubenesque’

It says the image - the longstanding logo for Pike Place bags of coffee - is appearing on some of its cups as part of a promotion, and will remain “for several weeks”.

Howard Schultz, who bought Starbucks in 1982, described the emblem in his memoirs as “bare-breasted and Rubenesque; [it] was supposed to be as seductive as coffee itself”.

Although its share price has plunged in recent years, Starbucks has 16,000 coffee shops in 44 countries worldwide, employing more than 170,000 staff.

The chain has just opened its first outlet in Argentina.

Based in San Diego, the Resistance claims to have more than 3,000 members across the US and has gained a reputation for espousing diverse conspiracy theories

SourceNew / Old Starbucks Logo

Sorry, but what?! How on earth is that slutty? As far as I’m aware, this was the original Starbucks logo which is being used again. It was originally used between 1971-1987. It was only in 1992 that the Starbucks lady lost her body to become the familiar logo we see today.

Manchester, I’m sorry.

I am utterly ashamed to call myself a Rangers fan after the chaos in Manchester on Wednesday. A handful of drunk, coke-fuelled idiots have made a laughing stock of my city and my football team. It looked like Manchester city Police didn’t have the situation under control half the time, there really shouldn’t have been a situation to control in the first place. Yes, it was a big game but fans should have been there to have a good time, not attack police officers and make the atmosphere feel like Basra.

For any readers from Manchester, I’m so sorry that these hooligans caused mayhem in your city - believe me, we’re not all like that. I can’t believe that no action is to be taken against Ranger’s Football Club, fans were invited to Manchester to watch the game, not stab a rival fan and treat the city like a dumping ground for empty alcohol bottles and urine.

Seriously, I am ashamed to call myself a Rangers fan.

T Time

I’m reading journals and blogs of friends both old and new and everybody is going away on holiday somewhere utterly cool this year. New York, China, Russia, Denmark. Me? Balado. Which is in Scotland. And where the greatest music festival in the world takes place on the first weekend of July each year - T In The Park. Although so far there’s only actually a few bands that I want to see - Newton Faulkner, Primal Scream, Scouting For Girls, The Hoosiers, Reverend And The Makers. I’m a bit worried that the Sugababes and Will Young are playing, Geoff Ellis what are you thinking man?

So, the countdown begins. It’s only 11 weeks away. Well actually, it’s in 11 weeks. And I can’t wait. Question is, are any of you going to T this year? Or any other music festivals?

A proper little housewife.

I have had the busiest two weeks, ever. All I seem to have done is sleep for 6 hours, go to work for nearly 10, come home and watch some TV or bake a cake (more on this later) and then fall asleep again. Ugh!

I think that work has been so crazy because we’ve had visits coming up and for some reason all three of us (manager, other supervisor and me) have been in working moods - hey, anything to make sure sales are up and we get a bonus! - which doesn’t happen very often. Don’t get me wrong, we do everything that we’re meant to but usually one of us is hyper or something and starts suggesting hauling everything off shelves and washing them. Gosh, that makes the shop sound dirty and it’s not!

Typical, I’m off work for the weekend and I’m blogging about it. Must stop that.

Anyway, I have discovered that I can bake. From scratch. Using flour and eggs and butter. Seriously. I am so impressed with this considering I can burn pasta. Cupcakes Over the past few weeks I’ve make cupcakes, tray bakes and cakes. I’m especially good at making coffee cake. Two slabs of coffee flavoured sponge cake, one with sultanas through it and held together with cinnamon icing. If I could remember the recipe I’d post it, but I sort of just make it up as I go along!

So since I’m oh-so-good at baking I’m making the boyfriend a cake for his birthday which is next month. Anyone with any great recipes or ideas please let me know.

Welcome to the candyshop

Welcome to the candyshop I really shouldn’t be sitting online munching a lot of sweets considering the boyfriend’s on his way back with my lunch, a nice healthy Burger King!

My body’s all confused because the clock’s went forward this morning, the computer says 16.49 (right), the alarm clock says 15.49 and my body says it’s about 11.00 since I was up half the night!

Oh, and by the way weather system? It’s spring now. So stop with the rain and snow please?

Hello, remember me?

Lack of access to a computer, never mind the internet, is taking it’s toll on my blogging. It’s not, however, taking it’s toll on my writing - I’ve discovered writing in a diary again after about 3 years of publishing my thoughts only online. When I first started blogging I kept up a hand written diary, a warts-and-all LiveJournal and a less personal blog. I must have had so much time on my hands then!

My laptop, which I thought I had finally fixed, is well and truly dead. There’s nothing. Nada. Won’t switch on, won’t charge up. I think I might just take my hard drive out of it and sell it on eBay for spares/repairs. It’s a shame, such a great laptop! I miss my little Inspiron.

Won’t be getting a new one for Christmas though - I’m getting a kick ass digital camera from the boyfriend though. I can’t wait, I love taking pictures but my camera got dropped a few weeks ago and now it’s really blurry and taking yukky pictures. I’m hoping to get a Flickr Pro account in the New Year too, and start taking at least one picture every day. I want to be able to look back in five or ten years and say ‘Oh, that night was awesome…Nintendo Wii’s are sooooo old skool’ or something! And laugh at dodgy haircuts!

Can’t believe that it’s Christmas so soon, thankfully I’ve finished my shopping though - I’ve spent nearly £600 on presents mind you! Well worth it, everyone will adore their presents since I put a hell of a lot of thought into them. That’s me penniless til the next pay day mind you - in January!! Hopefully I can convince one of my mates to have a house party so I don’t have to borrow money to go out. And then I get to watch the Hogmanay edition of Still Game.
