Defragging my laptop made me realise…

I was, maybe stupidly, under the impression that Window’s Vista was supposed to be easier to get around than XP? Totally rubbish. I’ve had Window’s running on my computers since 1993 (way back into 3.1 times here.. that’s a bit scary) and I’ve came to the conclusion that Vista is the hardest to learn.

Why has it taken me a couple of months of having it to come to this conclusion? Because I haven’t used my laptop for anything other than web browsing, Photoshop or writing reports before. It’s just taken me about 10 minutes to find the defrag option. And even then, I’ve got no indication of how long it will take to complete. Just a little message informing me that it may take several minutes (uh, on what? A 1mb drive?) to several hours to complete.

On finding out where the hell the defreg option was on Vista Home I’ve discovered loads of tools that are new to Vista - and some that are, in my opinion, a bit useless. Windows Experience Index - why-o-why? Is it not just a bit of a marketing scheme to get you to upgrade your laptop memory, or am I seeing that from the wrong end of the stick again?

Seriously thinking about downgrading to XP Pro, because there’s too much crap included with Vista. Like it’s trying too hard to include all the cool stuff, but really it’s not very cool at all considering how long it took them to release Vista after XP.
