Wearing My Rolex

What version do you prefer? Wiley or Hot Chip?

Wiley:

Hot Chip:

It’s to solve an argument that I’m having about which version is better

Something crazy has happened to my taste in . It’s flipped. Don’t understand it, I’m a hardcore rock chick. Nine Inch Nails is my chill out , AC/DC wakes me up in the morning. And yet looking at my Last.fm top list for the last three months you’d never know that!

  1. Timbaland
  2. Flo Rida & T Pain
  3. Basshunter
  4. AC/DC
  5. Scouting For Girls
  6. Black Eyed Peas
  7. The Killers
  8. Britney Spears
  9. The Fratellis
  10. Rihanna

Ok, so there’s some AC/DC and Fratellis in there but everything else goes against the grain of my musical taste over the last 5 years. I blame the guys in - we mainly listen to their since it’s more mainstream than mine and they’re influencing me into I never, ever thought I would enjoy.

I’m enjoying finding out that I’m not just your typecast rock fan, I’m completly in love with Flo Rida - Low at the moment and I’m seriously digging 50 Cent too, much to the annoyance of the boyfriend.

So, expand my collection. Tell me your favourite artist, album, single - whatever genre. As it turns out I’m more musically open minded that I thought I was!

Amy Winehouse, why do I have such an obsession with her car crash ? I’m not even that much of a fan of her , but her is riviting to me but it also makes me so sad that one person’s could be so fucked up and what she needs is away from the cameras and to finally get clean - I pity her, feel for her and love her all at the same time. It’s a horrendous state of affairs really, the poor girl obviously needs to get checked into drug rehab again for her own safety.

Only yesterday she was given into trouble from court officials for passing on love messages to husband Blake Fielder-Civil during his hearing for his upcoming court case for perverting the course of justice, according to The Mirror. She also managed to be 4 hours late for the hearing!

Asked “How’s Blake looking?”, she replied: “He’s as gorgeous as f***. Haven’t you seen him before?” Minders then bundled her into a car.

Love, if you think he’s fit as fuck you really do need to clean up your act!

I’m so excited!

At the moment, the boy is (that’s a lie, his grandfather is ) to Edinburgh to pick up the pool table I bought him for his 24th birthday. You have no idea how excited I am, I’ve wanted to buy him a pool table for so long, and in a few hours it’ll be all set up in his garage.

It took a long time to find one to buy, we ended up going with one off eBay that was slightly damaged. There’s nothing wrong with the actual playing surface, just the little window at the side where you see the potted balls is missing, which is easy to fix. We got it for 10% of the retail price, which is £3,100. There’s one other problem, the cloth is lilac but I’ve been reading up on recovering / refelting pool tables and actually it doesn’t look that hard. Plus our friend’s dad is an absolute pool shark and should be able to give us a hand doing it as he’s done it before.

At this moment the boy plus the 5 students we’ve bought it off of will be carrying the slate bed down 2 flights of stairs, don’t envy them one bit! Funnily enough they failed to mention that they lived in a flat when we bid for it.

Anyways, I’m going to read my new book that I got in the RBL last night for 50p, Number 10 by Sue Townsend. Looks excellent, so I’m going to sit for a while with a huge cup of coffee and an Easter egg (yes, we still have Easter eggs left!) reading it.

Oh, random.. The Fratelli’s new song is excellent. Just heard it on E4 . New album soon please, boys.

A few hours ago I opened up my GoogleReader and began reading through the 100+ feeds that I’ve managed to neglect over the course of the past 4 days. I was quite reading away until I came across an entry from Nettuts.com about creating a layout. I loved the end result of the tutorial and ended up creating my own theme from the tutorial. It’s very similar to the tutorial, but at the same time, it’s not really. Uh, whatever. I love it and it’s staying for the long run (i.e. about 2 weeks).

I’ve got a couple of things still to add, my Reading Library to chane back to running off a plugin rather than a script from another , and I’m not too sure about the text at the top…too much like a menu, maybe? I don’t know. I’ll see if it grows on me by the morning.

It’s a miracle that I’m still awake, I woke up pretty early this morning because the sun was blaring through my curtains. I’m impressed that the sun was shining on a Bank Holiday to be honest, such a shame that I had to go to though - I spent half the night staring out the front door wishing I was sitting in a park, eating a picnic and listening to with my mates! And after the chaos trying to get to I really wasn’t in the mood to be working at all. I’m off til 4pm on Wednesday and I plan to fill those hours with as much as possible rather than my usual of sitting watching or reading a book.

I want to do all my laundry and take old clothes to a charity shop since I’ve got clothes everywhere which I hardly ever wear. And I really need to plant all the bulbs that I bought a few weeks ago in the front garden so that when summer finally arrives the garden will be nice and colourful rather than just grass and a few roses. I like having something pretty to look at when I’m sitting outside reading.

Other than that, I don’t know how I’m going to fill the next two days - I have no spare cash so anything that I can do must be free. If it’s nice again tomorrow I’ll probably take the dog down to the local country park for a while, I’m sure she’ll enjoy it and I could do with the fresh air.

When it gets to this time on a night (2.41am) and I’m still awake I know there is no point trying to get some sleep in before I need to get up for . I’ll feel worse after just 3 hours sleep than if I just stay awake and drink some coffee before heading out the door.

So, what can I do for three hours instead of sleeping? I’ve re-tagged every single file on my computer and hard drives, I’ve synced my iPod with the and now I’m at a loss. There’s not much happening on the message boards that I frequent and StumbleUpon is getting a bit repeatative.

How can I have the world at my fingertips and be so damn ?

Music Gigs

I absolutely adore live , the thrill of being in the same room as somebody famous (I’m weird like that), hearing my favourite songs live with hundreds of other fans shouting the lyrics back at the artist and experience new through support bands that I’ve maybe never heard of before. gig tickets

I’ve kept a list (and the tickets) of all of the gigs and festivals that I’ve attended since 2003, i.e. when I began going to gigs with the boyfriend instead of the Smash Hits Tour Party with school (cringe).

Taproot

Taproot played the Garage on January 2003 and were supported by Pulse Ultra. It was my first date with my boyfriend, so this gig’s special to me for obvious reasons! It was also the first time I’d been to a ‘real’ gig.

Placebo

April 2003 at the infamous Barrowlands. Placebo are probably my most favorite band in the world and this was the first time that I saw them live. They were supported by The Faint who I weren’t too keen on. Brain Molko was as sexy as ever but they didn’t play Nancy Boy - very disappointing!

Marilyn Manson

The worst gig of my entire ! Manson and co played the Braehead Arena in June 2003. Well those of the band who hadn’t fallen out with each other and decided to do a disappearing act! After a forgetful warmup by Queen Andreena and hearing the full Rammstein - Mutter album twice through MM finally graced the stage. What a shame the sound in the Braehead arena is rubbish, it ruined the night!

Muse

At the all mighty SECC in November 2003. Again, this was the first time I went to see Muse live and they didn’t disappoint me! They were supported by Elbow who made me want to fall asleep. I don’t have much luck with support bands, I usually hate them!

Franz Ferdinand

Their amazing homecoming gig at the QMU, broadcast live on Radio 1 in April 2004. For once I enjoyed to two support bands - Sons And Daughters and The Fiery Furnaces. I was right at the barrier for the entire gig but the venue’s that small I could have been upstairs and still be as close to the boys as I was at the front. I think I may have fallen in love with Alex Kapranos during this gig.

Download Festival / Gig On The Green

June 2004. Complete waste of . Saw Machine Head, Iggy and the Stooges and The Distillers. We left before Lost Prophets and Linkin Park played. Funnily enough I don’t think Download’s been back in since…

My first year at the awesome T was July 2004. Even though we were only there for the day I managed to cram in Black Eyed Peas, Keane, Mylo, Basement Jaxx, Faithless, The Darkness, Felix da Housecat, Tiefchwarz and Muse for the headline act. This day started my obsession with TITP.

Mauro Picotto

Not strictly a gig since he’s a DJ, but this night out at The Arches was a good one - little did I know that I knew so many of his songs already!

Franz Ferdinand

Seen my boys for the second time in December 2004, this time at the SECC. They were supported by the Kaiser Chiefs (yay!) and the Fire Engines, who were weird beyond belief. It’s such a shame that there were so many idiotic neds / chavs there ruining it all - just because they like ‘Take Me Out’ and spent the rest of the gig booing and getting drunk on watered down beer. Brilliant.

Electric Six

At the Barrowlands in Febuary 2005. Awesome gig, I loved it more than I ever thought that I would. Dick Valentine is a true showman, if not completly crazy!

Nine Inch Nails

July 05. The most amazing gig, ever. Trent was great live, didn’t really interact with the crowd although the crowd were singing back to him a lot, even though he was singing at a different time. Hilight of the night was either Hurt, Head Like a Hole or The Hand That Feeds. Supported by Saul Williams, who I didn’t enjoy but each to their own…

July 05. The day after NIN we headed to for a weekend camping. Excellent weekend all in, saw Mylo, The Prodigy, Haysed Dixie, The Corel, The Killers, Keane, Joss Stone, Audioslave, Queens of the Stone Age, Snoop Dogg, New Order, The Streets, Jimmy Eat World, Ada, Butch Cassidy Sound System and Drive By Arguement.

2006, crammed in the following bands at some point in the weekend, Placebo, The Who, Hard-Fi, James Holden, 2 Many DJ’s, The Zutons, Lily Allen, My Robot Friend, Magic Numbers, Franz Ferdinand

Again, away for weekend camping in 2007 despite the horrendous mud situation! Completly missed the Friday night (yeah, thanks CityLink I wanted to spend 14 hours on a bus for a journey that should take 2) but managed to see The Fratellis, Just Jack, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, Goo Goo Dolls, Scissor Sisters, Queens Of The Stoneage, Jet.. and spent the rest of the time in the PKR casino!

Tag, you’re it!

Earlier on I couldn’t get my wireless internet to connect for love nor on my laptop, even although I could connect via my iPod Touch. Weird, but I managed to fix it only to find out that Virgin Media is having major outages across concerning television accounts and internet accounts. So I keep randomly disconnecting. Not amused, but it hardly happens so I suppose I have nothing to moan about.

Since I was lacking on the internet access I thought that I’d do some on my MTP stuff. We’re on a section just now that we’ve had a month to complete so far, and we’ve still got a month to go on this one section. It’s a huge, huge section covering loads of important stuff, more so than the last modules and sections that we’ve completed. Anyway, I opened up Word to begin writing away and decided to stick some on and update my iPod at the same time. Uh, bad idea. I’ve sat for around the last hour renaming tracks and adding ratings / genres to hundreds upon hundreds of files - and I’m only on the letter A!

I think that I’m going to take a letter a night and ensure that each file is tagged correctly, is within the correct genre, has the correct album artwork (albumart.org is a life saver) and where possible the correct track numbers assigned. I’m not too fussy that I need to include the year - but I’ll probably go back and do that again at some point in the not-to-distant future.

And the MTP? I think I wrote about 800 words and stopped to concentrate on the . That’s only 2 questions answered out of about 30 that I’ve still got to go…wish me luck!

A pain in the arse.

Since around 9am this morning (it’s now 4pm) I’ve been sitting , jailbreaking my iPod touch and sorting my collection, which was a vast job. I’m still nowhere near finished. I’m pretty anal (hah, I can imagine the search referrals I’ll get with that one) about my collection being titled and tagged correctly. And all the ‘The’ bands are sorted alphabetically, like ‘Verve, The - Bittersweet Symphony’. I don’t know what made me start doing that but I like it that way. And somewhere along the line in the past five years I decided that all the nice little album artworks that were included with albums I’d downloaded were taking up valuable space and deleted them all. Uh, what a mistake. I’m now re-downloading album artwork and manually adding them to albums in iTunes since obviously there’s lots of albums that I have that iTunes doesn’t have. I’m special that way.

Anyway, I digress. Is it so hard for people to upload files to the internet and tag them properly? It would save so much time for people like me.
